Last Day of Class
This will probably be my last post on this site. Mainly because I don't like to update blogs. However, I do feel like I learned a lot from MC 327. Even though I may not have paid that close of attention in class, I think overall my site looks clean and simple. It could use more information about the band, but I was unable to reach all of them to ask them questions. Oh well, it looks alright still? Well, for the final time?

Accomplished :D
I am so excited! I have finally made a website! It's about a local band I know. They are pretty much amazing. Not to mention they're just fun to be around. Well the link to the site is: http://www.siue.edu/~abutler/index.html Although I have a sneaking suspension most people who are looking at this blog have only just found out about it due to that site. Well, I hope you guys are having fun out there!

Layout Quiz
First and foremost I am doing this on the Alton Telegraph’s website. The layout is rather plain, but it’s easy to see the buttons that help navigate from page to page due to them being in color where others are not. This helps because it automatically brings your eye to the light blue color over the white background.
The advertisements are on the top, left, right, and bottom of the page. All of the content is in the middle more or less. They have videos on their site and also have pictures. They cannot use that many pictures in their print copy because they are limited to space, so they have “unlimited” amount of space to load videos and pictures on their website.
As far as I see there are no real relationship between the content and the advertisements. The advertisements I see are about AT&T and weight loss. There is an advertisement by Google which mentions Illinois sex offenders and arrest records. There are stories up on their site that are similar to that.
I think that this site is very simple, but it is easy to maneuver around. The substance of this site is mainly regional area, but they do sometimes have national new stories. The style is just plain old newspaper writing.

Stratton Oakmont v. Prodigy
Mark Harmon
Allison Butler
Stratton Oakmont v. Prodigy (1994-95)
In 1994, Stratton Oakmont, Inc. sued Prodigy Services Company for defamation in New York state court. It was in response to anonymous post on the Prodigy hosted bulletin board “Money Talks.” This bulletin board contained information about various business dealings, such as stock trading. The post claimed that the president of Stratton Oakmont, Daniel Porush, was involved in criminal behavior with another company.
Stratton Oakmont claimed that as a publisher of the defamatory posts, Prodigy should be held responsible under libel legislation. Prodigy, however, argued that they merely hosted the defamatory content and are not responsible.
The plaintiffs cited Prodigy’s ability to censor content deemed inappropriate or offensive. They also cited several articles that contained statements from Prodigy about their content editing ability.
The court ruled in favor of Stratton Oakmont, Inc. They felt that Prodigy’s policy of editing content made them a publisher and not merely an “electronic for-profit library” as CompuServe was declared in a previous court case.
The plaintiffs and the defendants settled out of court in 1995 before the judgment was delivered.

Learn Something New Each Day...
In MC 327 I learned how to make a website! Never have done it before, but it seemed simple enough...I guess we'll see how it goes when I'm doing it on my own. More on that later.

So Tired!
Man I'm tired today, but it's all good because New Kid On The Block were awesome! Not to mention the awesomeness of Jesse McCartney and Jabbawockeez for their openning acts. Bad news though my friends camera lost all the pictures! So there are no pictures :( But good news her sister has a few. Well, that's all I really wanted to say, I guess I'll write more later
